Integration with our clients
It is now an integral part of our business to have our staff based on site at customer premises. This is part of what we view as a seamless process where our customers have a direct interface with Currie European. Our staff are responsible for managing transport, scheduling despatches, raising customs documentation and providing statistical reporting plus real time delivery status information. Through these activities we become an extension of our customer's production line via our value-added activities.
Inventory Management
For many of our customers we are responsible for the "ownership" of components as soon as they leave the production area. Once this happens our own staff merge the components and begin a process of component testing and "countrification" (making the final product country specific). After this the goods are then packed and labelled and then move to the despatch area ready for onward distribution via our distribution network.
Cross Dock
All of our customers operate in a global marketplace and therefore source inventory on a worldwide basis. We offer our Cross Dock service to much of our varied customer base. In this activity spare parts are shipped into Rotterdam and these are then merged with other inventory and components at our facility in Nijmegen. Once sortation has been completed, the components are then tested and shipped out ready for delivery to the final customer. The main benefit of Cross Dock is that it reduces the need for unnecessary storage as all inventory is effectively kept on the move. Another benefit is that unnecessary transport journeys are minimized.
